DLVE-SLP: Distance Learning in VA Educating Speech Language Pathologists

DLVE-SLP will offer another cohort in June 2011 pending continued funding through the Virginia Department of Education. We will begin accepting candidacy packets for the 2011 cohort in October 2010. An updated candidacy process for the 2011 admission process has been posted on the prospective student page.
Objective 
The sole objective of this project is to allow individuals with a commitment to work as a speech- language pathologist in the public schools of Virginia to earn a Masters degree in speech-language pathology on a part time basis. Hampton University, James Madison University, and Longwood University have teamed together to be able to provide access to an accredited Masters degree in speech language pathology through distance education technologies.
Targeted Applicant
This project is designed for persons who desire a Masters degree in speech language pathology on a part-time basis in order to be employed in the public schools. "Career changers" and educators are encouraged to apply. This project is supported by a grant from the Virginia Department of Education. Virginia state residents with a strong commitment to work as a speech language pathologist in the Virginia public schools will be given first priority.

- January 15, 2011-Candidacy packets must be postmarked by this date for 2011 candidacy consideration
- March 1, 2011- University applications due
- April 2011- Admitted students notified by universities
- June 2011-Orientation for 2011 cohort/ Yearly Program Meeting for 2009 cohort
